Ten Tors Success April 28th-30th 2023
A week earlier than advertised last year due to the forthcoming Coronation Celebrations, our Orchard Manor Team, consisting of nearly 50 students and staff volunteers, triumphantly pushed over the finish line having walked various routes for this year's Ten Tors Jubilee Challenge. We are so proud of everyone who took part.
Lots of preparation went into this remarkable achievement - months of practice - walking to build up muscles, fitness and mental resilience. Learning to walk on Dartmoor's rough terrain, map reading, team work, facing the biting cold some days, pouring rain others with the odd glimmer of sunshine.
All of our teams did absolutely brilliantly, and they crossed the finish line dressed in their bright orange hoodies, exhausted, blistered, smiling and full of a sense of achievement.
We have to say a massive thank you to our Outdoor Education team who have made this possible. Setting up training schedules, getting the kit ready, putting up the tents for the overnight stay on the moor and for being there cheering on our young people. We couldn't do it without them. And as for our young people? What an experience to remember for the rest of their lives! We are really so proud of you all.
